The department of Physical Education, Srikrishna College, Bagula, Nadia has started his journey with the affiliation of B.A. (General) in the year 2003-04 under the University of Kalyani. Department has started the course with 50 students and for the demand of the subject the strength has increased to 267 students. Department has upgraded to the CBCS system from the academic session 2018-19. The CBCS provides the opportunity for the students to choose subject from the prescribed courses comprising of core, elective, skill enhancement or ability enhancement courses. The aim of the department is to produce perfect student by providing theoretical knowledge as well as practical knowledge of the subject for the better performance in the field of games & sports or in the higher education. The department has glorious history from the beginning of the course for the tremendous performance of the students in the inter college level within the district or under the University of Kalyani or in the state level or in the All India University level.

Note: Any hons. students can choose Physical Education subject as GE subject from the session 2020-21.

FACULTY MEMBER:

The department has now eight (08) faculty members including one permanent Assistant Professor, four SACT teachers, two part-time physical instructors and one part-time Gym- instructor.

PERFORMANCE OF THE DEPARTMENT:

Many students of this department have already participated in inter college level, All India University Level or even in the International Level. Last five year performance of the department as a team of Srikrishna College.

1. Champion: Annual Athletic Meet under University of Kalyani and Inter College District Sports & Games Championship[ From 2015-16 to 2019-20]
   Kho-Kho (Women) [From 2015-16 to 2019-20], Cross Country (K.U) [2015-16]
2. Champion: Inter College State Sports & Games Championship. Kho-Kho(Women)[2017-18]
3. Runners up: Inter College State Sports & Games Championship. Kho-Kho(Women)[2018-19 and 2019-20]

One of the star athlete namely Suravi Biswas, has participated South Asian Games(2019) held at Kathmandu, Nepal from Indian team and got Silver medal(2nd position) in Discus Throw event. Another star player Bubai Das also a member of Indian Kho-Kho (Men) team in 2018-19 held at Nepal. Rokeya Khatun another star athlete also participated in All India University Meet and National Level Reliance foundation Athletic Meet. Most of the members of Kho-Kho (Women & Men) team of Kalyani University from our department have participated in All India University Meet.

5. To provide facilities and organizational infrastructure for sports activities of the college.
